Daily Water Intake Formula
While the "8 glasses a day" rule is popular, your actual water needs depend on your body weight and activity level. Heavier individuals and active athletes require significantly more hydration.
How We Calculate It
We use a modified version of the standard hydration formula:
- Base: 33ml of water per kg of body weight.
- Activity: Add roughly 500ml (16oz) for every hour of exercise.
Signs of Dehydration
If you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Other signs include dry mouth, fatigue, and dark-colored urine. Aim to sip water consistently throughout the day rather than chugging it all at once.
